Sports Chiropractic in Taree
Athletes subject their bodies to a great deal of physical stress in pursuit of their sporting goals. From kids through to seniors, weekend warriors to professional athletes, the demands of engaging in sports can create biomechanical dysfunctions, pain and other symptoms.
At Midcoast Chiropractic and Wellness, our experienced chiropractor Dr Regan Wilson worked as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach and MMA instructor for over a decade prior to pursuing his chiropractic education. With his breadth of knowledge and skill in human biomechanics and movement, he is able to work with athletes to recover from injuries, help prevent future injuries and improve athletic performance.
Of course, you don’t have to be an elite athlete to benefit from our care. Anyone active or wanting to become more active may be a good candidate for sports chiropractic care. We see patients who participate in a variety of sports, such as:
- Boxing & Kickboxing
- Jujitsu
- Rugby
- Gym activities
- CrossFit
- And many more
Our Process—What to Expect
The assessment process for athletes is more comprehensive than for our regular chiropractic patients. In addition to the alignment of joints, we look at muscle function and reflexes to determine the cause of your pain, dysfunction or other symptoms.
Providing Comprehensive, Customised Care
Our care plans for athletes include customised home-care exercises and stretches that cater to your specific situation. Dr Wilson offers instruction and education so you can perform the movements correctly.
Your individual care plan will likely also include soft tissue work and dry needling. This focus on the muscles helps restore proper movement to the joints and allows your adjustments to work better and last longer.
We offer a variety of adjustment techniques, including gentle, low-force techniques as well as stronger-force manual methods. Dr Wilson will use the method or methods that are best suited to your situation.
